New default theme15:41 6.2.2010

The main theme of nectarine is now AMcBain's excellent nectalift theme

We hope you all like the new look, and thanks to AMcBain for his great work at this.
We also hope that we get many more themes in the future, so people can enjoy a cool nectarine with their own cool favorite colors!

For more info about theme'ing, and a good start template, visit the Development forum.

The old theme, if you prefer that, is still avaliable via "Edit Profile" > "Theme" > "Old Theme"

Birthday contest!19:25 17.9.2009

Demovibes Compo #2 - Happy Birthday Nectarine!
(thanks to Elrinth - used his template from Compo #1)

As some of you already realized, today it's 1 year, since Nectarine revival project (recently Demovibes) - was launched. It was year, full of he-man's, ponies, umd intro and another great (or funny at least) songs, which we were used to hear each day:D Well.. I will skip my speech at this moment and leave it for better speakers.

My idea is, that this event deserves some special act.. and what's more suitable, than Compo #2! I hope, that this time, more of composers will participate and we will meet some new awesome songs to remember this event.

Assignment:
Compose song to celebrate first birthday of reconstructed Nectarine.

Rules:
There are no restrictions about, what you melody you can do, use or mix. You can use any software/hardware and voice records. Song duration is limited to 10 minutes. Also you can name your song as you want, it will be anyway packed in "Happy Birthday Nectarine" album with other competitor's songs. Just keep the theme:)

Last date for handing in song: 30th September@ 23:59:59 GMT +1 (Prague time).

All songs should be sent to one of my emails (you can send copy to both for sure):
danger at email dot cz
michalsefl at gmail dot com

You can also send me link to ICQ (117-956-027) or nectarine message. When you dont receive my immediate confirmation (im offline sometimes:D), feel free to spam-send it again for sure.

Voting:
Album will be posted here during the morning at 1st October and ppl will vote for 2 days to see who will win. You can give each tune 1-5 score. Composers will remain anonymous until I've counted the votes.

Win:
I'm not sure about price yet, because this compo is meant to celebrate Nectarine's Birthday, but maybe we will find something suitable;) Any ideas are welcomed.

If you have questions about the compo place them here and some random person will answer if you're lucky! :D

*** IMPORTANT: Don't post here any song you make for compo! ***

You can participate even with more than 1 song.
Preferred format is MP3.

Firefox addon11:20 17.8.2009

I love user input, really i do.

korkut did some fantastic work on making a Firefox addon, that allows you to view/write oneliner messages from the browser statusbar. But wait! There's even more! Since v1.0 you can even rank the currently plaing song!

Grab it here, and read about it in this forum thread.

Stay tuned!

P.S. The name is: Şeftali - which of course translates to... nah, google it :P

P.S. #2. As it seems, there are more apps of this kind, although not as multiplatfrom as this one. If you go to this thread in our forums, you'll get to grab a tool by Danger made for the Windows system tray.

I'm sure, there are more.

News from the front13:15 24.7.2009

Good GREAT news everybody!!!

We've recieved almost all the data from Yes (still waiting for the database data), we can finally rebrand our most beloved site back to what it should be named in the first place.

That means, we're rebranding back to the name: Nectarine.

As you might have already noticed, all the old logos (~180 - some were broken) are back!

Before anyone asks: no, the tunes have not yet been added to the database, as we miss essential meta data (votes, download links, etc.). It'll be done as soon as we get the legacy Nectarine db (not the mp3's) uploaded and converted to the current site engine.

Right now there are >18,000 songs waiting to be processed (that's 60 GB of pure mp3 data).

Stay tuned!
