cause if you get hot, and there is no fan, that could cause a fire. so it will kill itself. (like lots of domestic appliances) -- once i replaced the fan, it was fine again

actually my SSD will last 60 years. I calculated it with the samsung magician software

but the fans can struggle, especially if it's a dusty room. the last real computer failure that i had was a fan dying (computer was suspiciously quiet, and it would switch off due to overheating)
